This annual tournament, organised by the Seoul Football Association in collaboration with the Korea Sports Agent Association, is considered one of the most prestigious youth football competitions in Asia.

The tournament features 8 quality youth teams, namely Seoul FA Selection Team (Top U18 players from Seoul), K League Selection Team (Best U18 players from K League), Gangneung Jungang High School (U18 National Tournament Champions), Vietnam U18, Kanto University Selection Team (Top U19 players from Kanto region, Japan), Johor Darul Ta’zim U18 (Malaysia’s strongest U18 side), Buriram United U18 (Thailand’s U18 powerhouse), and Zhejiang Professional U18 of China.

Notably, Vietnam U18 are the only Southeast Asian national youth team invited, highlighting the organisers’ high regard for the country’s youth football potential.

Currently, the Vietnam Football Federation has not yet announced the official squad for the tournament. However, Viettel FC has confirmed that four of its young players - Nguyen Hoang Nam, Hoang Van Thai, Nguyen Minh Ky, and Tran Hong Kien - have been called up for the training camp, due to begin on August 25.

Two years ago, Vietnam also participated in the Seoul EOU Cup 2023 but failed to make a strong impression, losing all three matches. This tournament is considered an important preparatory step for Vietnam U18 as they gear up for major goals in 2026, including the U19 Southeast Asian Championship and the 2027 AFC U20 Asian Cup qualifiers.

The tournament offers players valuable international match experience and provides a platform to promote Vietnamese football in the region. It is also an opportunity for young players to demonstrate their talent, ambition, and resilience on the international stage, helping to establish Vietnam’s youth football reputation.

Vietnam ready for AFC U23 Asian Cup 2026 qualifiers
