Young masters to compete at Vietnam’s Asian Xiangqi tourney

The Asian Youth Xiangqi (Chinese chess) Championship Vietnam Open will take place in Ha Long city in northeastern Quang Ninh province from December 15-20.

Nearly 100 players from six countries and territories have registered to take part in the event. They will compete in categories for boys and girls in seven age groups ranging from seven to 20.

Among the title favourites are Dinh Tran Thanh Lam, Dao Thi Thuy Tien and Nguyen Minh Hao of the hosts and Huang Xiao Hang of China, Lee Han Wei of Singapore, Sou Chon Hou from Macau and Qiu Yu Kai of Chinese Taipei.

It is the first international tournament organised by the Vietnam Xiangqi Federation after it separated from the Vietnam Chess Federation six months ago.
