Women’s football team invited to 2025 Tri Nations Cup in Bangladesh
VOV.VN - The Vietnamese women’s national football team, bronze medalists at the 2025 ASEAN Women’s Championship, have been invited by the Bangladesh Football Federation to participate in the 2025 Tri Nations Cup.
The friendly tournament will be held in Dhaka and will feature Azerbaijan, Vietnam, and the host nation. In the FIFA Women’s World Rankings, Azerbaijan is 74th with 1,300.4 points, while Bangladesh has surged 24 places from 128th to 104th, recording the largest points increase with 1,179.87 points.
This milestone came after Bangladesh qualified for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 finals for the first time.
Vietnam is ranked 37th globally, leading Southeast Asia and standing sixth in Asia. At the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 in Australia (March 1-26), Vietnam has been drawn into Group C with Japan, India, and Chinese Taipei, while Bangladesh are in Group B with DPR Korea, China, and Uzbekistan.
Head coach Mai Duc Chung said the players will return to their clubs to complete the national league season, while the coaching staff will continue monitoring performances and consider adding young talent from the U20 squad once the domestic season concludes.

Vietnam claimed the bronze medal at the 2025 ASEAN Women’s Championship after defeating Thailand 3-1 in the third-place match at Lach Tray Stadium in Hai Phong city on August 19 afternoon.
