Women's football team called for Rio Olympics qualifier

The national women's football team gathered on January 5 in Hanoi to prepare for the final qualifier for the 2016 Rio Olympics, according to the Vietnam Football Federation.
Twenty-five well-performed players were called by coach Mai Duc Chung, including goalkeeper Kieu Trinh, defenders Chuong Thi Kieu, Hai Hoa, Thuy An, and Nguyen Thi Xuyen, and strikers Huynh Nhu and Minh Nguyet.
The Sports Centre of District 1, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Centre contribute the most players – nine and seven, respectively.
The team will play several matches during two months of training. They will have a week-long Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday before leaving for Japan on February 21.
The third qualifying round will take place from February 29 to March 9, 2016 in Osaka, Japan.
Vietnam will join Japan, the reigning Asian champions, and 2014 AFC Asian Cup runners-up Australia, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), China and the Republic of Korea (RoK) in the round.
