Women footballers train long overseas ahead of 2023 World Cup campaign

VOV.VN - Coach Mai Duc Chung and his players of the national women’s football team are set to train in Japan, Germany and New Zealand, before competing at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The players will play a number of friendlies in Japan from April 17 to 30, in Germany from June 5 to 25, and in New Zealand from July 6 to 17.

The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup is scheduled to take place in both Australia and New Zealand from July 20 to August 20.

Vietnam will play in Group E alongside world defending champions USA, world runners-up Netherlands, and winners of a play-off match between Portugal and Cameroon.

According to coach Mai Duc Chung, it will be difficult for Vietnam to enter the knock-out round, but group matches will present a golden chance for Vietnam to acquire experience and hone in skills.

The national players will gather for training in Vietnam on March 10 before beginning their Olympic Games Paris 2024 qualification campaign, starting on April 3.

They have been assigned to defend their championship title at the 32nd Southeast Asian games due to take place in Cambodia in May.
