Werder Bremen players arrive in Hanoi for Vietnam friendly
VOV.VN - Twenty-six players of Germany’s Werder Bremen FC landed at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi on May 14 to prepare for a friendly against the Vietnamese women's national football team.

Head coach Thomas Horsch said he would field a line-up for the friendly match in Vietnam as their opponents are ranked 37th globally.
The line-up includes standout striker Larissa Mühlhaus, who scored 8 goals in the 2. Frauen-Bundesliga this season, and midfielder Juliane Wirtz, sister of German international Florian Wirtz.
Werder Bremen also boasts a physically dominant defence, with 1.80m-tall defenders Lara Schmidt and Hanna Nemeth, presenting a valuable test for Vietnam’s key players like Tuyet Dung, Hai Yen, and Hoang Thi Loan ahead of their 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers.
The Vietnamese team will play Werder Bremen FC at Hanoi-based Hang Day Stadium on May 16, as part of activities marking 50 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Germany.
The national team began training on May 6 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Centre in Hanoi. Head coach Mai Duc Chung has called up 30 players for a 10-day training camp in preparation for the friendly.
The Frauen-Bundesliga, the top tier of women’s football in Germany, has ended with Werder Bremen FC in seventh place with 28 goals. Based in Bremen, the club is known for its modern and technical playing style.
