VTV secures exclusive broadcast rights for FIFA World Cup 2026 in Vietnam
VOV.VN - Vietnam Television (VTV) announced it has officially secured the exclusive media rights to broadcast the final tournament of the FIFA World Cup 2026 in Vietnam.
According to VTV, the broadcaster will hold comprehensive rights across multiple platforms, including television, radio, mobile devices, internet streaming, and public screenings. This allows Vietnamese fans to follow the tournament across a wide range of viewing formats.
VTV will broadcast all 104 matches of the tournament live, along with the opening and closing ceremonies, highlights, and nine companion programmes scheduled throughout the day on its channels.
On digital platforms, VTV will offer a full suite of viewing options, including live streaming, replay services, and video-on-demand content tailored for online audiences.
Content will also be distributed across internet platforms, mobile applications, and social media ecosystems, in accordance with agreements with FIFA.
Notably, VTV is the only broadcaster in Vietnam to hold public screening rights for the tournament. This enables the network to organise or authorise large-scale viewing events such as fan zones, as well as screenings in restaurants, cinemas, and other public venues.
VTV is also planning a series of football viewing events combined with live entertainment activities, targeting younger audiences.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 will be the largest edition in history, featuring 48 teams and 104 matches, hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Do Thanh Hai, standing deputy director general of Vietnam Television, said the broadcaster has made thorough preparations to deliver a dynamic, multi-platform World Cup experience.
“With modern production and broadcasting systems, along with extensive experience in covering major sporting events, VTV is ready to bring audiences a complete and immersive FIFA World Cup 2026 experience,” he said.
Earlier this month, FIFA listed Vietnam Television as the broadcast rights holder for the 2026 World Cup in Vietnam.
