FIFA listed VTV as Vietnam broadcast rights holder for World Cup 2026
VOV.VN - The world football governing body FIFA listed Vietnam Television (VTV) as the broadcast rights holder for the 2026 World Cup in Vietnam, although no official announcement has been made by the broadcaster.
Information published on FIFA’s official website on April 2 shows VTV as the sole broadcast rights holder in Vietnam, covering television, radio, mobile and internet platforms.
FIFA’s website also indicates that when Vietnam is selected under the Results and Fixtures section, the VTV logo appears as the official broadcaster. At present, VTV is the only broadcaster identified for the tournament in the country.
In match details, VTV3 is listed as the channel airing all matches of the 2026 World Cup. However, this may not be the final broadcast plan. FIFA also lists other VTV channels, including VTV2, VTV7 and VTV10 among channels available in Vietnam.
VTV has yet to issue an official statement confirming the broadcast rights or outlining its plans. On March 24, its sports division said on Facebook it would air intercontinental play-off matches on VTV2 and the digital platform VTVGo.
VTV has previously aired major tournaments such as the World Cup and the UEFA European Championship free of charge nationwide. However, rights to some recent competitions, including the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, were held by FPT Play, reflecting growing competition in Vietnam’s sports media rights market.
The 2026 World Cup will be held in the US, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19. The tournament will expand to 48 teams for the first time.
