Volleyball player Thanh Thuy voted as favourite athlete of Victory Cup
VOV.VN - Local volleyball player Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, who currently plays as an outside hitter for the PFU Blue Cats of Japan, was voted as the favourite athlete of the Cúp Chiến Thắng (Victory Cup).
Thuy won a total of 17,074 votes, twice as many as the second-placed swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang with 9,729 votes.
They were followed by Paralympic weightlifter Le Van Cong with 6.665 votes, Sepak Takraw player Tran Thi Ngoc Yen with 5.539 votes, and swimmer Thuy Hien with 5,452 votes.
The public vote at cupchienthang.vn closed on December 31, with the awarding gala scheduled for January 16.
The annual Victory Cup is considered to be the Oscars of Vietnamese sports. Competitors will compete in 11 categories, including male and female athletes of the year, young athlete of the year, athlete with disability of the year, coach of the year, team of the year, and favourite athlete, among others.
The event organised by the Vietnam Sports Administration (VSA) under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism this year marks its seventh edition.
