VN martial artist wins gold at 2021 Asian Karate Championship

VOV.VN - Vietnamese martial artist Hoang Thi My Tam bagged a gold medal in the women’s kumite 55kg in the U21 category at the 2021 Asian Karate Championship held in Kazakhstan on December 20.

My Tam managed to defeat Thai rival N. Penpisut in the final match to lead the event.

The 18-year-old girl earlier defeated A. Alyazya of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the opener and B. Zahra of Iran in the semi-finals, entering the final match.

The 2021 Asian Karate Championship is scheduled to last through to December 22, drawing the participation of roughly 500 martial artists from 23 countries and territories worldwide.

Vietnam has sent nine athletes to the event, with the team coached by duo Le Tung Duong and Duong Hoang Long.
