The announcement on the suspension was made by the organisers of the competition, the Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF), on July 26.

According to Tran Anh Tu, chairman of the VPF, the 12th round of V.League 1 matches will not be held as previous planned due to the complicated nature of developments relating to the COVID-19 epidemic in recent days.

A total of seven matches in the 12th round of games were scheduled to get underway at 5pm on July 29, including a match between SHB Da Nang and Hai Phong FC at the Hoa Xuan stadium in Da Nang.

The latest postponements mark the second time the V.League 1 has been halted due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic. This comes after it was cancelled in March following the first two rounds of matches being played in stadiums with no fans, with supporters returning to stadiums in June.
