Viettel FC depart for Thailand to compete in AFC Champions League 2021
VOV.VN - Viettel FC, the Vietnamese representative at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League 2021, headed to Thailand on June 21 to compete in the continental competition.
All of the team’s footballers have been injected with two doses of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine and also tested negative for COVID-19 ahead of their trip to Thailand.
Viettel FC will have their strongest team available for their group stage fixtures, with key players such as Khac Ngoc and Paulo recovering from injuries. In addition, national team footballers including Que Ngoc Hai, Bui Tien Dung, and Nguyen Trong Hoang will link up with the team in Bangkok after taking part in the second round of World Cup qualifiers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The V.League 1 champions will compete in Group F at the AFC Champions League 2021, with fixtures taking place between June 26 and July 11.
They will face off against Ulsan Hyundai FC of the Republic of Korea on June 26 in their opening game, with the return fixture set to be played on July 8.
Three days later, Viettel FC will play the winner of the match between Shanghai Port and Kaya FCs, with the second tie set to be held on July 11.
They are then due to meet Thai League 1 side BG Pathum on July 2 and July 5.
