Vietnam’s women’s footballers ready for 2018 Asian Cup finals

VOV.VN - After their 10-day training course in Germany, Vietnam’s women’s national team made the long trip from Germany to Jordan on April 2 to prepare for the final round of the 2018 Women’s Asian Cup.

They arrived at Amman international airport at 2:10am on April 3. As scheduled, their first training course was to be held on the morning of April 3, however, Coach Mai Duc Chung decided to allow them extra rest after the long trip, so they will have a training session in the afternoon instead.

They will have four days of training ahead of their opening match on April 7.

Vietnam’s women’s national team is in Group B of the final round of the 2018 Women’s Asian Cup. They will face Japan on April 7, Australia on April 10, and the Republic of Korea on April 13.

The Asian Cup finals serve as a qualifying round for the 2019 Women’s World Cup. Eight teams are divided into 2 groups, the first and second winners of each group and the winner of a play-off between two third-placed teams will progress to represent Asia’s women’s football to compete in the 2019 Women’s World Cup in France.

Vietnam’s women’s footballers, led by their coach Mai Duc Chung, are pragmatically aiming for third place in Group B, so they can win the fifth ticket through a play-off match. It will not be easy as they face 3 of the world’s strongest teams from Japan, Australia, and the Republic of Korea.
