VOV.VN - The Vietnamese Olympic football team have been dealt a blow in their preparations for ASIAD, with the location of their training ground being changed at the last minute, meaning they must practice on a cement pitch as provided by the organizing board of the Asian Games (ASIAD) 2018 in Indonesia.
The organizing board of ASIAD failed to arrange the Wibawa Mukti Stadium as the Vietnamese Olympic football team’s training ground. The host country made many changes for Vietnam with little notice. They arranged for the Vietnamese squad to train at the Sutasoma 2 ground which is nearly 50km away from where the Vietnamese players will be staying. |
The Communications officer of Vietnam’s men’s football delegation at ASIAD 2018 provided regular information updates for Vietnamese reporters. |
The Vietnamese Olympic football squad and Vietnamese reporters departed early to avoid peak hour traffic in Jakarta. |
However, after arriving at the Sutasoma 2 ground, reporters are informed that Sutasoma 2 ground is a grass for the military airport in Indonesia, reporters aren’t allowed to do their job and the Vietnamese Olympic squad aren’t allowed to train on the ground. |
The security forces request that Vietnamese reporters show their papers. |
Reporters are forbidden from the pitch area. |
Although Vietnamese reporters had identification supplied by the organizing board of ASIAD 2018, they weren’t allowed to do their job in a military zone. |
While receiving information not to train at Sutasoma 2 as it is in a military area, the coaching board allowed the Vietnamese players to go to a nearby park for a run. |
The Vietnamese team have to do light exercise on a cement road. |
According to the latest schedule, the Vietnamese Olympic football team will train at 4pm in Samsung stadium, but there is a worry about further changes. After three days in Indonesia, head coach Park Hang Seo has not been provided with any suitable training ground before Vietnam’s first match against Pakistan on August 14. |
