Vietnamese women’s volleyball team hits historic world No.24 ranking
VOV.VN - Vietnam’s women’s volleyball team has reached an all-time high of No. 24 in the world rankings after a commanding 3-0 win over Indonesia on August 1 in the opening match of the 2025 SEA V.League, held in Thailand.

The victory added 4.11 points to the team’s total, bringing it to 145.32 and lifting them from 27th to 24th place in the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) rankings, their highest position ever.
In the match, Indonesia struggled despite the presence of star player Megawati, with Vietnam exploiting their opponent’s weak blocking and defence to secure two dominant sets at 25-11. The third set saw Indonesia rally to lead 21-19, but Vietnam mounted a late comeback to clinch the set 25-22 and seal the win.
This year marks the first time the SEA V.League results are counted toward the FIVB rankings. However, matches involving Thailand are not eligible for points, as the Thai team has already competed in the Volleyball Nations League.
This change benefits Vietnam, as Thailand is currently the only team in the SEA V.League ranked higher than them.
The 2025 SEA V.League features Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand. The first leg is being held at Terminal 21 Korat Stadium in Thailand from August 1 to 3, with the second leg set for August 8 to 10 in Vietnam.
