Vietnamese women’s futsal team secures 13th place in world rankings
VOV.VN - World football governing body FIFA announced the latest global rankings on May 6, with the Vietnamese women's futsal team ranking in 13th position.
The national team were placed fourth in Asia and second in Southeast Asia, behind Thailand which maintained their spot at sixth position in the world.
Brazil took the lead in the women’s futsal world rankings as of May 6. Spain, Portugal, Argentina, and Colombia were the other teams to make the top five.
The Vietnamese men's futsal team secured their 33rd spot in FIFA rankings. They were also placed in third position in Southeast Asia, behind Indonesia at 28th and Thailand at ninth globally.
Brazil also topped the men’s futsal world rankings as of May 6, with the other teams making up the top five being Portugal, Spain, Iran, and Argentina.
After a long period of testing, FIFA has developed the first ever futsal world ranking. The system is based on an Elo-rating system, with this approach relying on adding or subtracting points won or lost for a game either to or from the previous totals.
