Vietnamese weightlifter sets new SEA Games record

VOV.VN - Vietnamese weightlifter Nguyen Quoc Toan performed excellently in Cambodia on May 16, winning a gold medal in the men’s 89kg weight category and breaking the Southeast Asian Games record.

Toan lifted the highest combined weight of 345kg, breaking the SEA Games record.

More importantly, he also broke the SEA Games records by lifting 155kg in the snatch, 5kg more than the previous record, and 195kg in the clean and jerk, 8kg more than the previous record.

Toan’s gold was 125th Vietnamese athletes have won at the ongoing 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia.

Meanwhile, wrestler Ngo Van Lam defeated a Cambodian opponent in the men’s free-style 92kg weight category, bagging another gold medal for Vietnam on May 16 morning.
