Vietnamese tennis team receive Davis Cup promotion

VOV.VN -Ranked number 66th in the world, Vietnam’s tennis team have been promoted to the Davis Cup’s Group II Asia-Oceania Zone.

The promotion is attributable to their great performances during the Davis Cup’s Group III Asia-Oceania Zone, which was held in Singapore between June 26 and June 29.

At the tournament Vietnamese players, including Ly Hoang Nam, Trinh Linh Giang, Pham Minh Tuan, and Le Quoc Khanh, were seeded first in Group A. They enjoyed victories over Sri Lanka, world number 87, Singapore, world number 100, Kuwait, world number 73, and Syria, world number 92.

As a result, Vietnam have been promoted to the event’s Group II for 2020 and will compete alongside China’s Hong Kong, Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, the Philippines, and New Zealand.

Due to their impressive performances, the team was awarded US$27,000 from the Vietnam Tennis Federation and other individuals and companies.
