Vietnamese tennis players shine at Asian U14 tournament

Vo Quoc Uy of Vietnam had an easy win at the International Tennis Federation Asia U14 Development Championships, Division 2, in HCM City on January 11.

Uy trounced Maramatsho Ayombekev of Tajikistan 6-1, 6-1 to enter the semi-finals in the boys’ category.

His teammate, Dinh Viet Tuan Minh, defeated No.4 seed, H. Kumar, from Pakistan 6-4, 6-4.

On the girls’ side, Le Thao Han won 6-1, 6-1 against Jarin Jolly of Bangladesh to enter the quarter-final.

Nguyen Minh Thuy Hang beat Mongolian Y. Ganbaatar 6-2, 7-6(8), while Huynh Tran Ngoc Nhi defeated Shraboni Biswas from Bangladesh 6-4, 6-0.

“Vietnam has some talented players in this tournament, such as Uy and Thien Quang, who are giving impressive performances. These players will receive strong support to improve their level in the future,” said Kieu My, President of HCM City Tennis Federation.

The tournament will end on January 19.
