Vietnamese tennis ace jumps to career high in world rankings
VOV.VN - Local tennis ace Ly Hoang Nam has risen 17 places to reach 234th spot in the latest ATP world rankings, his highest position to date, with this coming after he made it to the men’s singles semifinals of the Challenger Matsuyama 80.
His previous career-high ranking was 251st place which was achieved back in October.
The country’s leading tennis player was in impressive form at ATP Challenger Matsuyama 80, accumulating an additional 30 points in the process.
After achieving his best-ever ranking, Nam will go straight into the main round of the men’s singles of the ATP Challenger Kobe 80, an event which is included in ATP Challenger Tour system. The tournament offers a cash prize of US$7,200 and 80 ATP points for the ultimate winner.
Furthermore, Nam’s ranking could get even higher if he is able to put in an impressive display whilst competing at the ATP Challenger Kobe 80.
Moving forward, Nam will face off against Frederico Ferreira Silva of Portugal, world No.291, in the first round of the tournament. If the Tay Ninh-born player wins the round, then he will earn an additional seven points.
