Vietnamese swimmers leave for 2024 World Aquatics Championships

VOV.VN - Vietnamese swimmers departed for Qatar on February 8 as they head to compete in the 2024 World Aquatics Championships which are scheduled to take place from February 11 to February 18.

The group include Nguyen Huy Hoang, Tran Hung Nguyen, Pham Thanh Bao, Nguyen Quang Thuan, Nguyen Hoang Khang, and Ngo Dinh Chuyen.

Swimmer Hoang has qualified for the Olympics in the men's 800m freestyle event, whilst he also plans to qualify for the 1,500m event. His teammates hope to secure places in the breaststroke and individual medley classes.

This year, the World Aquatics Championships features the presence of 2,600 athletes from 21 countries, including many top international swimmers, and is considered as an extremely fierce competition.

The swimmer's other tournaments include the 11th Asian Age Group Championships in the Philippines which will run from February 26 to March 29 and another international competition held in April in Thailand.
