Vietnamese students attends 10th Asian School Games

Sixty Vietnamese students attending the 10th Asian School Games 2018 held in Malaysia, met with the Ministry of Education and Training on July 18.

Nguyen Thi Nghia, deputy Minister of Education and Training and chairman of the Vietnam Student’s Sports Association, and other high ranking officials attended the meeting.

She said the team can learn from the experience and help improve their abilities to shorten the gap with other Asian nations for future games.

“With a spirit of sportmanships and honour of the nation, I wish you have the confidence and try your best in this big game so foreign friends from around the world learn about the development of Vietnamese education and people," she said.

Speaking at the meeting, Le Manh Hung, deputy head of the education body under the Ministry of Education and Training and head of Vietnam student’s sports team, said the 10th Asean Schools Games includes 4,000 young athletes from 10 nations: Brunei, Cambodia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar and host Malaysia.

Athletes will compete in 11 categories including, athletics, badminton, basketball, gymnastics, squash and aerobics.

The Vietnames team includes 60 staffs, coaches, athletes, referees who will compete in four categories: athletics, table tennis, gymnastics, aerobics and swimming.

The 10th Asean Schools starts today and lasts until July 26.
