Vietnamese players valued higher than Nepal ahead of 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers
VOV.VN - Ahead of two key fixtures against Nepal in the 2027 AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers, the Vietnam national team are considered to have a clear edge, not only in experience but also in player market value, according to leading football site Transfermarkt.

Based on the latest Transfermarkt figures, the total market value of Vietnam’s October 2025 squad stands at approximately EUR4.93 million, more than double that of Nepal. This valuation reflects not only Vietnam’s superior squad depth but also the growing recognition of its players on the international stage.
At the top of the list is Jason Pendant, a French-born defender, valued at EUR500,000. With experience in France and the United States, Pendant brings modern defensive qualities, athleticism, and tactical intelligence, adding both strength and versatility to Vietnam’s backline.
Trailing closely behind is Pham Tuan Hai (EUR400,000), one of the national team’s most consistent and hard-working striker. Striker Nguyen Tien Linh, well known for his performances in previous World Cup qualifiers, is valued at EUR350,000, further underlining the team’s attacking quality.
Coach Kim Sang-sik has called up 24 players for a training camp in Hanoi in preparation for the two matches against Nepal this October.
Eight young players who have just won the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship and qualified for the 2026 Asian U23 Championship will join training. Promising names include Tran Trung Kien, Khuat Van Khang, Nguyen Hieu Minh, Nguyen Xuan Bac and Nguyen Dinh Bac.
Key players Do Duy Manh, Bui Tien Dung, Pham Tuan Hai and Nguyen Hoang Duc will participate in the training camp.
Vietnam are scheduled to take on Nepal on October 9 and 14 as part of the 2027 AFC Asian Cup's third qualification round.
Vietnam currently sit second in Group F with 3 points, level with Laos but ahead on goal difference. Group leaders Malaysia have a perfect 6 points after two matches. The upcoming games against Nepal are pivotal for Vietnam’s hopes of closing the gap with Malaysia, boosting momentum for the rest of the qualifiers, and reinforcing their bid to finish top of the group.
