Vietnamese players practice hard ahead of FIDA Days friendly in RoK
VOV.VN - The Vietnamese men’s national football team took part in their first training session in the Republic of Korea (RoK) on October 15 in preparation for a friendly match with the host team during the upcoming FIFA Days.
After arriving in Suwon, coach Philippe Troussier’s players had warm-up exercises in the playground of Suwon Samsung Bluewings FC in preparation for the upcoming friendly match.
Midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai did not join his teammates in the RoK this time as the veteran player suffered an injury in a behind-closed-doors friendly match against Uzbekistan on October 13.
On October 16 evening, the Vietnamese team will hold another training session to get used to the Suwon World Cup stadium, the venue for the friendly against the Korean side.
This match will wrap up a series of friendlies during the FIFA Days ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers which will be played this November.
The national squad headed by coach Troussier trounced Hong Kong (China), Syria, and Palestine, but accepted defeats to China and Uzbekistan.
The Vietnamese players are scheduled to compete in World Cup qualifiers from mid-November 2023 to June 2024.
Vietnam have been drawn in Group F alongside the Philippines, Iraq, and the winners of the upcoming play-off match between Indonesia and Brunei. They will take on the Philippines in the opening game on November 16.
