Vietnamese player wins Asian Carom Billiards Championship

VOV.VN -Ma Minh Cam, a Vietnamese billiards player, won first place in the one-cushion category of the 10th Asian Carom Billiards Championship that took place in Ho Chi Minh City on April 23.

Cam enjoyed a convincing 100-51 victory against Seo Huyn Min, his opponent from the Republic of Korea (RoK), in the opening match.

Two other Vietnamese billiards players, Nguyen Sy Tuong and Pham Van Hung, who were competing in the tournament finished as runners up.

The competition attracted a total of 16 local and foreign players. The championship was made up of players from Japan, the RoK, Cambodia, Jordan, and Vietnam.

The top three players at the tournament received cash prizes of US$2,000, US$1,200, and US$600 respectively.

Meanwhile, the three-cushion category is set to be played on April 24. In total, 32 local and foreign players will be competing, including experienced players such as the RoK’s Cha Jae Ho who is ranked as the world’s number three, Tran Quyet Chien of Vietnam who is ranked number six in the world, Vietnam’s Nguyen Quoc Thien who is number nine in the world, and Heo Jung Han of the RoK who is the world’s number 12.

They will be divided into eight groups, with the top players of each group advancing to the next round.

The overall champion will be awarded US$4,000 while the two runners-up will receive US$2,400 and US$1,200, respectively.
