Vietnamese kickboxers bring home five World Cup gold medals
VOV.VN - Vietnamese martial artists have brought home five gold, eight silver and six bronze medals from the first Kickboxing World Cup which closed in Thailand on April 12.

A standout performance came from Hoang Thi Thuy Giang, who impressively secured two gold medals in the women’s 50kg light contact and 50kg kick light categories.
Other champions were Nguyen Thi Ngoc Ngan in the women's 56kg full contact, Phung Thi Hong Tham in the women's 65kg light contact, and Hoang Trong Vy in the men's 45kg low kick.
“This event not only helped athletes gain more international experience, but also served as a key evaluation point for assessing the team and studying rivals ahead of the 33rd SEA Games, expected to be held later this year in Thailand. We’ve made important observations on strong regional teams like the Philippines and the host country, Thailand,” said President of the Vietnam Kickboxing Federation Vu Duc Thinh.
"The tournament provided a valuable opportunity for Vietnam's young fighters to gain experience, improve their skills, and build competitive confidence," he added.
Vietnam finished seventh in the medal tally.
Thailand took the lead with 36 golds, followed by Uzbekistan with 32 golds and Bulgaria with 15 golds.
The World Kickboxing Cup 2025 took place in Thailand from April 7 - 12, attracting 674 athletes from 45 countries and territories, making it one of the largest-scale tournaments in the history of the sport.
Also during this event, Asian Kickboxing Confederation President Nasser Nassiri presented Vietnamese Luong Van Den a gold of the continental championships which held in Cambodia last year.
Den took a silver after losing to Abbos Bozorboyev of Uzbekistan in the men's U75kg category. Bozorboyev was then tested positive for a prohibited substance so his title was stripped and given to Den.
