Vietnamese karateka wins bronze at Karate One Youth League Manila 2026

VOV.VN - Vietnamese karateka Hoang Sy Duc An won a bronze medal in the boys’ U14 kata event at the Karate One Youth League Manila 2026 on May 17, delivering a notable result for Vietnam’s youth karate team at a high-level international tournament.

Hoang Sy Duc An, who trains and competes under the Sports Training and Competition Center of the Ministry of Public Security, secured the bronze after defeating home fighter Cabejo Sebastian Reign of the Philippines in the third-place match.

The tournament was held in Manila, the Philippines, from May 14 to 17 as part of the youth competition circuit of the World Karate Federation (WKF). The event brought together young karate athletes in the U14, cadet and junior categories from countries and territories worldwide.

The Karate One Youth League is one of the leading youth competition systems in world karate, held annually to provide promising young athletes with opportunities to compete and gain experience internationally. Under the WKF’s 2026 competition calendar, the season includes six international stops, with Manila serving as one of this year’s host cities.

Vietnam fielded Hoang Sy Duc An, Le Dinh Phuong Nghi and Nguyen Kim Hien in the individual kata events at this year’s tournament. Duc An’s bronze-medal finish stood out as one of the team’s highlights at the competition.
