Vietnamese gymnasts to compete at Asian Gymnastics Championships
VOV.VN - 10 athletes from the Vietnamese gymnastics team have departed Vietnam for Tashkent in Uzbekistan to compete at Asian Gymnastics Championships which is scheduled to be held from May 16 to May 19.
Of the group, five potential athletes are expected to win the tournament to earn tickets to compete at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The tournament will offer only two places to the Paris Olympics for one male and one female athlete who go on to win the individual all-around category.
According to Bui Trung Thien from the Department of Physical Training and Sports, the 2024 Asian Gymnastics Championships will be the last chance for Vietnamese gymnasts to earn slots to compete at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Therefore, he noted that all athletes had prepared carefully before the tournament.
So far, the country has secured 10 official slots to participate in the Olympics, including those badminton, shooting, swimming, cycling, weightlifting, boxing, canoeing, and rowing.
