Local gymnast accumulates more points at World Cup for Olympic berth

VOV.VN - Vietnamese gymnast Trinh Hai Khang finished sixth in the vault performance at the 2024 Cairo World Cup in Egypt on February 18, accumulating 14 points to secure a place for more competitions in the lead up to the Paris Olympics.

This was the best achievement recorded by the Vietnamese gymnastics team at the World Cup so far.

Khang scored 14,066 points and claimed sixth spot among the eight finalists. The gold, silver, and bronze medals went to Artur Davtyan of Armenia with 14,930 points, Chepurnyi Nazar of Ukraine with 14,900 points, and Shek Wai-hung of Hong Kong (China) with 14,800 points.

The 2024 Cairo World Cup got underway from February 15 to 18 in Egypt.

After the tournament the Vietnamese gymnasts will travel to Germany for the 2024 Cottbus World Cup between February 22 - February 25 which gives them the chance to accumulate points in coming competitions in order to get Paris Olympics berths.
