Vietnamese athletes depart for ASIAN Para Games 3
VOV.VN - A seeing off ceremony was held for the Vietnamese sport delegation travelling to the ASIAN Para Games 3 in Ho Chi Minh City on September 28.
The delegation comprises 75 members, including 52 athletes with disabilities, 11 coaches and others.
They will compete in 7 of the 18 sports on show; swimming, track and field, weightlifting, chess, badminton, table tennis and judo.
Speaking at the event, Vu The Phiet, Vice President cum General Secretary of the Paralympic Vietnam Association said the Vietnamese sporting delegation had prepared for the Para Games for a long time and the athletes aim to win high prizes. At Incheon 2014 in the Republic of Korea, Vietnamese athletes bagged a total of 9 gold medals, this year they are determined to repeat the feat.
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Khanh Hai highlighted the significance of the Para Games, saying it helps to strengthen solidarity and mutual understanding among countries in the Asian region. He encouraged athletes to do their best to win medals for the fatherland.
The ASIAN Para Games 3 will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia from October 6-14, drawing the participation of 45 countries.
