Vietnamese archers arrive in Shanghai for World Cup stage 2
VOV.VN - Archers of the Vietnamese team have arrived in Shanghai, China, to compete in stage 2 of the 2026 Archery World Cup.
The coaching staff has selected 11 top-performing archers to compete in both recurve and compound events.
Among them are experienced archers such as Loc Thi Dao and Nguyen Hoang Phi Vu, alongside promising young talents Le Quoc Phong and Dang Cong Duc.
In preparation for the tournament, team members maintained intensive training throughout the recent national holiday period on April 30 and May 1.
Earlier in March 2026, the team made a strong start to the season, winning two silver medals and one bronze at the Asian Cup held in Thailand.
According to Phan Trong Quan, who oversees archery under the Sports Authority of Vietnam, each international competition provides a valuable opportunity for athletes to gain experience and strengthen their competitive mindset.
The tournament is also seen as a key preparatory step and a comprehensive performance assessment for the coaching staff to evaluate each athlete’s capabilities.
The team are ultimately targeting peak performance at the 20th Asian Games, scheduled to take place in September this year in Japan.
At this World Cup stage, Vietnamese archers will have the opportunity to compete directly against some of the world’s top-ranked athletes.
Competing under pressure from Olympic-level opponents is expected to help the team refine techniques and improve mental resilience ahead of future major competitions.
The competition is taking place in Shanghai from May 5 to 10, featuring around 320 professional athletes from 44 countries and territories.
