Vietnam women’s team receive encouragement on International Women’s Day in Perth
VOV.VN - Members of the Vietnamese community in Western Australia and representatives of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Perth visited the Vietnam women’s national football team on International Women’s Day March 8, offering encouragement ahead of their match against Japan in the final Group C fixture of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026.
Representatives of the consulate, together with many members of the Vietnamese community and supporters in Western Australia, met the players on International Women’s Day, showing support for head coach Mai Duc Chung and his squad before the upcoming match.
Speaking at the meeting, Nguyen Thanh Ha, Consul General of Vietnam in Perth, expressed pride in the fighting spirit of the players. On behalf of the consulate and the Vietnamese community in Western Australia, she also extended greetings to the coaching staff and members of the Vietnam women’s national team on International Women’s Day.
On behalf of the team, head coach Mai Duc Chung said he was moved by the attention and support from the consulate and the Vietnamese community in Australia.
“When we travel far from home to compete, it is very touching to receive encouragement from the Consulate General and members of the Vietnamese community in Perth, especially on International Women’s Day,” Chung said.
“The support from the community and fans has given our players strong motivation. The team will continue preparing carefully, both technically and mentally, for the upcoming match with the highest determination, playing with full commitment for the national colours and the spirit of Vietnam and Vietnamese women.”
According to the tournament schedule, Vietnam will face Japan at 4:00 p.m. on March 10 (Hanoi time) at Perth Rectangular Stadium in the final Group C match of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026.
