Vietnam women’s club football placed sixth in AFC rankings
VOV.VN - The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has released its women's club rankings for the 2025/26 season, with Vietnam placed sixth in Asia, thereby underscoring the progress made by the country's women's club football in recent years.
The rankings will serve as an important basis for the AFC to determine qualification slots and seeding for the qualifying and group stages of its women's club competitions in the 2027/28 season.
According to the latest rankings, Vietnam's women's club football earned a total of 68.522 points. Club performances contributed 44.750 points, accounting for 70% of the total, while the Vietnam women's national team added 23.772 points, equivalent to 30%.
Vietnam's place among Asia's top six shows the significant progress made by the country's women's club football in recent years.
The strongest contribution came from the impressive campaign of Ho Chi Minh City Women's FC in the AFC Women's Champions League 2025/26, helping raise the profile of Vietnamese women's football within the AFC competition system.
According to the AFC, the rankings are based on clubs' performances in the AFC Women's Champions League 2025/26 and the FIFA Women's World Ranking published on April 21 this year.
Maintaining a place among Asia's top six will provide additional advantages for Vietnamese women's clubs in future seasons and demonstrates efforts to develop women's football on a more professional footing.
The ranking is also seen as an encouraging sign as Vietnamese women's football pursues higher ambitions at both club and national team levels in the time ahead.
