Vietnam wins two first bronze medals at world Sepak Takraw championship

VOV.VN - Vietnamese players brought home two bronze medals on the first competition day (September 4) at the King’s Cup 2024-the International Sepak Takraw Federation (ISTAF) World Sepaktakraw Championship 2024, which is currently ongoing in Thailand.

They won bronzes in both the men’s and women’s hoop events.

In the women's category, Vietnam scored a total of 920 points, placing third after hosts Thailand and Cambodia.

Male Vietnamese players came second in the first round with 520 points. They enjoyed a better performance in the second round with 530 points and claimed third position, finishing behind the hosts Thailand and Myanmar.

As defending champions, Vietnam have set a goal of winning at least one gold medal in the women's quad or team of four event scheduled to take place on September 8.

Vietnam have been placed in Group A alongside Malaysia, Laos, China, and Cambodia. Group B consists of Thailand, India, the Republic of Korea, Japan, and Myanmar.

The King’s Cup 2024 will last through to September 9, drawing the participation of athletes from 29 countries and territories worldwide to compete for 17 sets of medals.
