Vietnam wins three golds at Cambodia Kun Bokator National Championship

VOV.VN - Local martial artists bagged a total of three gold, three silver, and three bronze medals, thereby ranking second in the medal tally at Cambodia Kun Bokator National Championship which concluded on April 3 in the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh.

The gold medal haul went to Nguyen Thi Hoai Nhi in the women’s 45kg category, Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai in the women’s 55kg category, and Ngo Duc Manh in the men’s 70kg category.

This marks the first time that host nation Cambodia has invited athletes from Laos, the Philippines, Indonesia, Myanmar, and Vietnam to compete in the tournament.

The championship ran from March 29 to April 3, with the Vietnamese team sending nine martial artists to the tournament in order to prepare for the 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 32) held in Cambodia from May 5 to May 17.

Moving forward, Cambodian martial art kun bokator has recently been added to the UNESCO world heritage list and will be represented for the first time at the SEA Games.

So far a total of five countries, including Vietnam, have registered to compete in the martial art kun bokator.
