Vietnam wins second medal at ASIAD 2018

Vietnam won the second medal at the 2018 Asian Games (ASIAD) on August 19 in Jakarta, Indonesia, after its shooters took another bronze medal in the 10-m Air Pistol Mixed Event.

Le Thi Linh Chi and Tran Quoc Cuong got a total of 407.5 points, behind their competitors from China (473.2 points) and the Republic of Korea (467.6 points).

Nguyen Duy Hoang and Awaki Ai of Vietnam also competed in the Air Rifle Mixed Event on the same day but they failed to enter the medal rounds. 

Previously, Vietnamese Taekwondo athletes secured the first medal for the country after bagging a bronze medal the men’s team poomsae event.

The ASIAD 2018 opened in Jakarta on August 18 evening with the theme “Energy of Asia”.

Vietnam’s sports delegation to the ASIAD consists of 532 members, including 352 athletes. It aims to snatch at least three gold medals, with at least one in an Olympic sports category.
