Vietnam wins one silver and three bronze medals at world weightlifting championships

VOV.VN - Local athletes have brought home one silver and three bronze medals at the world weightlifting championships, with the sporting competition currently ongoing in Bahrain.

Nguyen Tran Anh Tuan grabbed the only one silver medal for Vietnam. He came second in the men’s 61kg clean and jerk event after lifting 131kg.

Elsewhere in the clean and jerk, Tuan lifted a total of 291kg to win a bronze medal.

Two more bronze medals went to Pham Dinh Thi in the women’s 45kg clean and jerk event after lifting 97kg. In total, her result of 170kg helped her to bag a bronze medal.

The 2024 world weightlifting championships has been organised by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) and initially began in Bahrain on December 6, with the competition due to last through to December 15.

This year the nation has sent a total of seven weightlifters to the tournament, with the local athletes flying home on December 12 after completing all of their competitions.
