Vietnam wins first men’s doubles at Ciputra Hanoi badminton tournament
VOV.VN - Vietnamese duo Nguyen Dinh Hoang and Tran Dinh Manh brought home the country’s first ever gold medal in the men’s doubles at the Ciputra Hanoi-Yonex Sunrise Vietnam International Challenge 2025 held in Hanoi on March 30.

They defeated Japanese rivals Kazuki Shibata and Naoki Yamada in an extremely dramatic competition.
Two Vietnamese pair created plenty of difficulties for their Japanese competitors and went into a 21-19 lead in the first set. The Japanese players then changed tactics in the second set before going ahead to score 21-15.
In the decisive set, the local duo came back strong in the first few minutes and quickly took the lead. Great encouragement coming from local fans helped them continue to put in an outstanding performance before winning 20-15 to wrap up the match.
The Vietnamese athletes received a cash prize of US$1,400 from the organisers. This marks the highest achievement ever recorded by Vietnam in the men’s doubles at the tournament.
The Ciputra Hanoi-Yonex Sunrise Vietnam International Challenge is one of international badminton tournaments held in Vietnam. It is an official event of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) where players earn points for their world rankings.
This year the tournament was held from March 25 to 30, attracting 314 athletes from 20 countries and territories worldwide.
