Vietnam U23 narrowly lose to Qatar U23 in another Abu Dhabi friendly
VOV.VN - Vietnam U23 lost 2-3 to Qatar U23 in a tightly contested friendly match during their ongoing training camp in Abu Dhabi, UAE, on October 13.

The match was the second clash between the two sides within a week, as part of Vietnam's preparations for upcoming regional and continental competitions.
After a narrow 0-1 defeat in the previous encounter, coach Dinh Hong Vinh made several changes to the starting lineup, fielding a squad largely composed of players who had limited appearances in recent official tournaments. Only midfielder Le Van Thuan retained his spot, while the rest of the lineup featured fresh faces aiming to hone skills.
Qatar took the lead early on with a goal from the penalty spot, before doubling the advantage from a corner just ten minutes later. Once again, Vietnam’s defence struggled to cope with set-piece situations, a recurring weakness that was also exposed in the previous match.
Despite trailing by two goals, Vietnam responded with renewed energy. Le Van Thuan pulled one back before halftime, injecting momentum into the squad.
In the second half, coach Dinh Hong Vinh introduced a series of substitutions including Nguyen Bao Long, Le Van Ha, Le Van Truong, Pham Ly Duc, Nguyen Thai Quoc Cuong, Vo Anh Quan, Nguyen Quoc Viet, and Le Viktor. The fresh legs helped Vietnam dominate large portions of play.
Striker Quec Viet leveled the score at 2-2 in the 68th minute, capping off a strong spell for the young Vietnamese side. However, defensive lapses returned to haunt them, as Qatar netted a late winner to seal the match.
Vietnamese players are taking part in a training camp in the United Arab Emirates in preparation for the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand this December and the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup.
