Vietnam U17 arrive in RoK to gear up for FIFA U17 World Cup 2026
VOV.VN - The Vietnam U17 national team arrived in the Republic of Korea (RoK) on the morning of October 19, 2026, launching a 10-day training camp ahead of the FIFA U17 World Cup 2026 Finals, according to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).
This represents a crucial phase for head coach Cristiano Roland and his players to refine technical performance, build mental fortitude, and gain experience before entering the global tournament.
Under the schedule, Vietnam U17 will play three friendly matches in the RoK on October 22, 26, and 28 against a local U18 club, the RoK U16 team, and the RoK U17 team.
Through these matches, the coaching staff will evaluate tactical execution, assess player progress, and make necessary adjustments.
Facing young teams from the RoK will also help Vietnam U17 adapt to high-intensity competition and improve decision-making under pressure. Following the training camp in the RoK, the team will return home before departing for the UAE on November 6 for further preparations, from where they will travel to Qatar for the World Cup finals.
According to the draw results, Vietnam U17 are in Group G alongside Belgium, New Zealand, and Mali.
Assessing their opponents, head coach Cristiano Roland said that the coaching staff studied all three teams and instructed players to focus on each match, exploit opponent weaknesses, and maximize their own strengths.
The FIFA U17 World Cup 2026 in Qatar marks the first time in history that Vietnam U17 have qualified for the tournament.
The upcoming training camp and friendly matches serve a vital role in helping young players accumulate experience, refine their playing style, and prepare for the major challenge on the global stage.
