Vietnam trounce Singapore 9-0 in opener of AFF U18 Women’s Championship
VOV.VN - The Vietnamese U18 women’s football team recorded a strong 9-0 victory over Singapore on July 24 in their opening match of the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) U18 Women’s Championship which is being held in Indonesia.
The first half saw the Vietnamese team dominate the game and score seven goals.
Going into the second half, the U18 women’s national team eased the pace and scored two more goals to end the match 9-0 in favour of Vietnam.
Luu Hoang Van scored the most with four goals, followed by Ngoc Minh Chuyen and Dang Thi Duyen, both of whom scored two goals each, and Ho Thi Thanh Thao with one goal.
Moving forward, the national youth team led by Japanese coach Akira Ijiri will play Indonesia on July 26.
The AFF U18 Women’s Championship 2022 opened in Indonesia on July 22 and is scheduled to last through to August 4.
The competition was first held back in 2014, with the 2022 version representing its second edition. Thailand finished as champion in 2014, with the runner-up title going to Vietnam.
