Vietnam to host Southeast Asian Fencing Federation Senior Championships 2026
The Southeast Asian Fencing Federation has announced that its Senior Championships are scheduled to take place in October 2026 in the northern province of Quang Ninh.
The tournament is regarded as one of the most notable international events for Vietnamese fencers in the year, as it marks Vietnam’s return to hosting an international fencing competition after several years. The last time Vietnamese fencers competed at an international event on home soil was at the 31st SEA Games in Hanoi in 2022.
The most recent Southeast Asian Fencing Federation Senior Championships were held in 2024. In 2025, due to the organisation of the 33rd SEA Games, the federation only staged the 2025 Southeast Asian Fencing Federation Youth Championships.
At the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand, fencing competitions saw the participation of five countries: Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, the Philippines and Malaysia. The Vietnamese team competed in all events and secured a total of 10 medals, including three golds, two silvers and five bronzes. The gold medals were won in the men’s individual épée, men’s individual sabre, and men’s team sabre events.
For the 2026 Championships, the organising committee is expected to include all events for sabre, foil and épée disciplines for both men and women.
