Vietnam to host international DanceSport competition for first time

VOV.VN - The World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) World Challenge Cup Rising Stars Latin and Standard is scheduled to take place in Ho Chi Minh City from July 12 to July 14, attracting the participation of over 1,500 local and foreign dancers worldwide.

The tournament will be held in Vietnam for the first time and is set to feature diverse events, including open standard and latin youth, international open standard and latin adult, and open solo latin youth.

Hundreds of local dancers from 80 clubs nationwide will attend the event, including the duo Phan Hien-Thu Huong, who were champions at SEA Games 31; and Ngoc An-To Uyen, runner-up of the Vietnam latin tournament.

Khanh Thi, a grand master of Vietnamese DanceSport, will work as head of the judging panel.

She is notable for winning many awards in DanceSport, including two Vietnam Open Dancesport Championship Awards, an Asian Indoor Games (AIG) Award, and a SEA Games.

Thi was a judge of the gameshow Dancing with The Stars (Bước Nhảy Hoàn Vũ Việt Nam) and So You Think You Can Dance Việt Nam (Thử Thách Cùng Bước Nhảy), as well as a member of the organising board of about 20 dance competitions in the nation.

An opening ceremony of the WDSF World Challenge Cup Rising Stars Latin and Standard will be held on July 13 at Military Zone 7 Competition Centre in Ho Chi Minh City. Millions of people are expected to watch the tournament live via channels such as TV Online, Facebook, and YouTube.
