Vietnam to host first-ever Southeast Asia and Asia Dancesport Festival

VOV.VN - The first-ever World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) Vietnam Dancesport Festival 2025 is set to take place in Ho Chi Minh City from July 9 to 13.

The event is expected to provide a valuable platform for local dancers to gain experience and engage with top athletes from across Southeast Asia and the broader Asian region.

The festival will be organised by the Vietnam Gymnastics Federation in collaboration with the Khanh Thi-KTA King The Art Centre, with official approval from the Department of Sports and Physical Training.

For the first time, the World DanceSport Federation has granted Vietnam the right to host both the Southeast Asian Championship and the Asian Championship.

A notable highlight is the inaugural WDSF Asian Championship for Solo Girls, which will be integrated into the festival’s competition lineup for the first time.

To date, over 3,000 athletes from more than 36 countries and territories have confirmed their participation, alongside over 100 local and international judges. This makes it the largest dancesport event ever held in Southeast Asia.

So far, regional dancers have primarily competed at the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games), which are held biennially. The introduction of this festival as an annual amateur competition marks a significant milestone, giving dancers more regular opportunities to compete, grow, and connect. This also represents a major step forward for Vietnam’s role in the international dancesport community.
