Preparations are underway, with the Sports Authority of Vietnam coordinating with relevant agencies to ensure both events are well-organized. Delegates will discuss a broad range of sports-related issues affecting the region.

AMMS 8 will review the ASEAN action plan on sports for 2021-2025 and set orientations for 2025-2030. The ASEAN sports fund, scheduled to begin in 2026, is expected to provide a stable financial foundation for regional initiatives.

Several signing activities are planned, including projects between ASEAN and Japan on school sports development, gender equality, and sustainable development, as well as initiatives with ASEAN and China to promote traditional sports exchange and implement phase 2 of the ASEAN sports zone project in Brunei, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand.

Vietnam will also work with the ASEAN Secretariat to advance an anti-doping cooperation agreement, thus reaffirming the region’s commitment to fairness in sports.

Additionally, the ASEAN Sports Alliance will partner with the International Olympic Committee and the French Development Agency (IOC-AFD) to carry out a project addressing the prevention of violence and sexual abuse of children and adolescents in sports across Southeast Asia, including Vietnam.
