Vietnam to compete at Asia Cross Country Rally

VOV.VN - Two Vietnamese teams, AKA Racing and Steelmate Racing, are set to represent the country to compete at The Asia Cross Country Rally, commonly known as “AXCR” or “The Asian Rally”.

Most notably, this will be the third time that AKA Racing has taken part in the competition. They will compete in (Modified Cross-Country Cars (T1) category and use Mitsubishi Triton, which allows stable and flexible operation at 20 km/h speeds on rocky, sandy, and muddy surfaces, with the capacity to reach 140 km/h on flat roads.

Meanwhile, joining the tournament for the first time, Stealmate Racing will use The Toyota Hilux 2015 which is equipped with a diesel engine with displacement of three litres whilst producing power of 161 horsepower and torque 400 Nm (Newton metres).

The Asia Cross Country Rally is held in August annually, beginning in Thailand before moving on to other countries around the region. This year, the race will begin on August 13 in Pattaya before concluding on August 19.

Racers will have to overcome an array of rough and varied terrain conditions, such as mountainous roads, jungles, coastlines, and plantations which are among the most challenging natural conditions throughout Asia.

This year, the tournament has attracted the participation of 50 teams from Japan, Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, and several other countries.
