Vietnam to beat Indonesia in AFC’s quarter-finals

Vietnam has set its sights on beating Indonesia in the quarter-finals of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women’s Futsal Championship 2018 on May 9.

The game will be held at Bangkok Arena in Thailand.

“Indonesia, the runners-up of Group A, are arch rivals of Vietnam, and the two sides are evenly matched for talent," said Vietnamese coach Truong Quoc Tuan. "However, we are determined to defeat them to earn the right to compete in the event’s semi-finals.” .

Vietnam gained three wins to top Group B and reach the quarter-finals. The team beat Chinese Taipei 1-0, Bangladesh 7-0, and Malaysia 3-1.

These wins will be a driving force for Vietnam to perform in the upcoming match.

“Being the winner of Group B improves the morale of the Vietnamese team, and takes off some of the pressure. After finishing the qualifying round, we mainly focused on training our player’s physical strength, ensuring that they have the best possible form,” said Tuan.

At the Southeast Asian Games last year, Vietnam bested Indonesia 2-1 to take the silver medal, while Indonesia received the bronze medal.

Vietnam will have its best line-up for the match today after their key player Nguyen Thi Chau recovered from her injury.
