VOV.VN - With a total of 37 golds, 36 silvers, and 33 bronzes, Vietnam was placed first in the overall medal tally at the 2024 Asian Open Police Taekwondo Championships, which concluded on December 9 in the northeastern province of Quang Ninh.

The second and third places went to Indonesia; with seven golds, six silvers, and four bronzes; and Cambodia with four golds, two silvers, and one bronze, respectively.

Furthermore, the organising board also presented medals to three winning teams competing in civil events. Of them, JeongJeom University claimed the first position, whilst Shinhan Univeristy and Daekyung Unversity won second and third places, respectively. All of them came from the Republic of Korea.

The four-day tournament attracted the participation of over 2,500 individuals, including officials, coaches, and athletes, from 29 countries and territories.

The Championships served not only as an opportunity to boost the development of Taekwondo, but also a bridge to strengthen co-operation between international police forces for global peace and security.

With the slogan of “The Power of Police! Taekwondo Police - global citizen protectors”, the event demonstrated the spirit of solidarity and co-operation of law enforcement forces from around the world and was also a testament to Vietnamese commitment to  maintaining regional and global peace and stability.
