Vietnam ready for 2026 ASEAN U17 Boys’ Championship
VOV.VN - Vietnam’s U17 team arrived in Surabaya, Indonesia on April 11, starting their participation in the 2026 ASEAN U17 Boys’ Championship in stable physical condition and ready for their opening match.
After nearly a day of travel, the team reached the host city and received thorough support from the organisers.
The team are staying at Mövenpick Surabaya, one of the international-standard hotels arranged by the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) and the organisers for participating teams.
On the morning of April 11, the team manager and coaching staff attended the pre-tournament technical meeting, while head coach Cristiano Roland joined the pre-match press conference for Group A, where Vietnam are drawn with Indonesia, Malaysia and Timor-Leste.
Later the same day, the team held their first training session in Indonesia to complete preparations for the opening match against Malaysia.
According to the schedule, Vietnam will face Malaysia on April 13, followed by Timor-Leste on April 16 and Indonesia on April 19. The group stage is played in a single round-robin format, with the three group winners and the best runner-up advancing to the semi-finals, meaning each match is crucial in the race for a place in the next round.
In addition to being a regional tournament, the competition is also an important step towards the AFC U17 Asian Cup 2026 finals, scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia in May.
