Vietnam reach ASEAN U23 semis with 2-1 win over Cambodia
VOV.VN - U23 Vietnam secured a 2-1 win over U23 on July 22 to advance to the semi-finals of the 2025 ASEAN U23 Championship as Group B winners.

Vietnam made several changes to their starting lineup, but their overall style and effectiveness showed little improvement from the match against Laos. Coach Kim Sang-sik’s side enjoyed plenty of possession but continued to lack a cutting edge in attack.
Cambodia, meanwhile, played with aggression and committed frequent fouls. They launched two counterattacks that posed some danger, but goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien and the Vietnamese defense were rarely troubled.
Ly Duc put Vietnam ahead in the first half following a dominant opening. However, a sluggish start to the second half allowed Cambodia to equalize.
Vietnam responded with renewed attacking pressure and slick combinations, but struggled with finishing. Dinh Bac eventually found the breakthrough, restoring the lead and sealing the win.
Despite an unconvincing overall display, Vietnam held on for the win and will face U23 Philippines in the semi-finals.
